Toyota: Increasing Awareness and Understanding of Diversity & Inclusion

Challenge

Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) and Toyota Financial Services (TFS) engaged HudsonLake to increase awareness of Toyota’s Diversity + Inclusion (D+I) strategy — a pledge to treat all team members, partners and customers with equal and unwavering respect and dignity and anchored in the pillars of the Toyota Way: Respect for People and Continuous Improvement — as well as contribute significantly to D+I success measures, including increased standing within the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity.


Outcome

A multi-layered, multi-channel approach, this integrated effort was hugely successful through the first-ever One Toyota TMNA- and TFS-combined print and PDF D+I Annual Report. It also included an interactive website with D+I videos featuring Toyota team members, digital signage, and a cross-company D+I engagement campaign extending to Toyota manufacturing sites, field offices and dealerships nationwide. Further, a DiversityInc Award Supplement highlighted the company’s open and inclusive culture, and positively impacted Toyota’s standing from number 34 to number 25 within the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity.
